Paganetta

About

Paganetta is a net-salary calculator for Italy, aimed at both employees and the self-employed on the flat-rate scheme. The figures shown come from named primary sources and carry neither this site’s review nor its sign-off; this page says where each one comes from and where the calculation stops.

What Paganetta is

Paganetta is a net-salary calculator for Italy. It is built for two kinds of worker: employees (lavoratori dipendenti) who want to see what actually lands in the bank after the payslip is done, and the self-employed on the flat-rate scheme (regime forfettario) who want a first sense of their substitute tax and contributions. The idea is simple — before you sign a contract or set a price, you should be able to see the real take-home, not just the gross figure on paper.

For an employee the calculation starts from the gross monthly salary and subtracts what Italy really deducts: INPS social-security contributions first, then progressive IRPEF on what remains, reduced by the Art. 13 employment tax credit (detrazione) and, for those who qualify, the 2026 cuneo-fiscale relief. It also shows what the same salary costs the employer in total — a figure most payslips never spell out.

Why Italy is its own case

IRPEF is not a single rate but a progressive bracket tax, and the credit that lowers it is a banded formula rather than a flat allowance — so two people on the same gross can keep quite different amounts. On top of the national tax sit the regional and municipal surtaxes (addizionali), which depend on where you live and are settled separately from the monthly deduction. The calculator flags them without folding them into the net shown, because there is no single nationwide figure to apply.

Two more things surprise newcomers. Italy has no statutory national minimum wage — minimum pay is set by the national sector collective agreements (CCNL), with only a daily contributory floor for INPS purposes. And while a thirteenth salary (tredicesima) is near-universal, a fourteenth (quattordicesima) is not — it is owed only where the applicable CCNL provides for it. The calculators are built to reflect that, rather than assume a rule that may not apply to you.

Our promise: honest numbers

One rule sits above the rest: no number here is invented. Every rate and every amount is meant to trace to an official source, with the date it was last checked. Anything we could not confirm against a primary source is marked unverified or left out entirely — we would rather write less than write something that does not hold up.

The figures shown are transcribed from named primary sources and are the ones in force for 2026. Two things limit them: a very recent change may not have reached these pages yet, and none of them has been through this site’s own review and sign-off. For the amount that binds you, the cited source or the Agenzia delle Entrate is what counts. No model ever declares a rate correct on its own.

The figures on this site were last checked: Jul 2026. Each value carries its source and the date it was last checked.

Who it is for

We write in plain, practical language, with no needless jargon: the goal is that in a couple of minutes you get a rough but honest picture of what your payslip — or your forfettario tax bill — will look like. It is for people already working in Italy and for those weighing a move here, employees and the self-employed alike.

Paganetta is the Italian edition of a salary calculator, adapted to Italian rules — INPS, progressive IRPEF, the detrazione and cuneo relief, and the flat-rate scheme.
